Fly in clearing house part 1
I'll finish up the fly in pictures in 2 posts, because I'm starting to get board with them myself!I'll post some of the pictures in medium, and you can click on them for a closer look. Or don’t... I'm not going to force you or anything.
The 2 top pictures are noses of P-51 D Mustangs (WW2 fighters). The nose art is usually very colorful on these planes.
This is one of the oddest flight formations you will ever see. 2 modern F-18's, a Korean war vintage Saber jet, and a WW2 era Corsair! I'm sure they had a reason for doing this, but you cannot always hear the announcers explanations when the planes are NNNNAAAARRRRROOOOOOOOOOing in your ears.
This is a more standered formation, made up of AT-6 Texans. The Texan was a flight training plane of the WW2 era. Many were sold to the public, so many are out there still flying today. They do have a classification as a "warbird", but since they really didn’t see "war", I don’t think of them as such.
This is a Texan at sunset. Again, I cant say that I am a fan of this plane, in fact I usually just hustle on by them when at the airshow, but the light on this guy was just right, and I had to take the shot. I guess they aren’t sooo bad…

These would all make great posters! You should submit some of these to graphics publishers!
Oooooohhhh! These are gorgeous! How on earth do you get so many opportunities of getting this close to the planes? And your adjustments are spot-on! The colours bloody bounce off the screen.
The only time I've ever been this close to a fighter was when I visited Grumman in Florida when I was 10. Who knows where the negatives are?
Bloody excellent shots! B*****D! ;)
Bitched Edwin? And don't forget...you gave Jug carte blanche to be odd...I'll bet he didn't reeeeeeeeeeeeally take these shots...he works in a processing house, member? I bet he confiscated them from some poor WWII vet...and didn't even give CREDIT!!!! Muuuuaaaahahahahaha! ;-) Great shots STILL JUG! How DO you get that "still" color...does that make sense? LOL!
Hi !
Your air photos are 'spectaculary'great!
We want more ....
I titter like a little girl whenever you're referred to as "Jug." That just kills me.
Hehehehehehe! Knew that'd get a rise outta ya Jug! I'm just a li'l shitkicker from waaaaaaa back, life's too short NOT to be, LOL! ;-) Love your comment on my clothing-optional couple by the way...you win too! Wanna give me a snailmail addy? I'll send ya a bonafide Santa Claran postcard!
Shelly... Thank you! I would, but I just don’t know if people would buy them, or just look at them and say "oh, that’s nice".
Edwin... the EAA fly in happens just a half-hour from my house every year at the end of July. The stuff that was there that I didn’t even shoot was incredible. Grumman would be a cool tour! Somewhere in my archives I have a Grumman formation that was flown once, it was kinda like the odd formation in the post, a jet and a bunch of piston planes in a group!
ame... you are just here to stir shit, aren’t you! :) If I was going to steal other peoples pictures and post post them, I'd post all those nekked pictures you people take, not thinking that other people are going to see them! For color? Often I think, what would a certain type of film do. For EAA, I think "What would Velvia do?", then put the contrast up a notch, and crank the saturation levers up in the old digital Rebel!
Selana... Really? I thought perhaps the plane pictures were getting a little old. Perhaps just my explanations are!
brian.. just you never mind. :)
Thanks to everyone for the posts, and thanks for visiting!
