You thought I forgot

Yep, back to pictures from the Fly-in I went to in the end of July.
Now, I feel I need to preface the next few posts by saying this, I'm not a war monger. While I think wars are stupid and should go away, at the same time I have to admit an affinity to some of the weapons of war (ships and aircraft primarily). Partially in remembrance of people who served in wars (who saw/did/suffered horrible things for a cause they thought was right), but honestly, its mostly because I think they look cool. While I have some interest in equipment from other time periods (WW1 Dreadnoughts, Battlecruisers and such for example), my main interest is in WW2 aircraft.
One of the most recognizable fighters (although probably not from this angle) of WW2 is this plane, an F4U Corsair. This plane is known for its bent wing design, and was popularized here in the US in a late 70's TV show called "Black Sheep Squadron". Probably one of the reasons took a shine to WW2 aircraft was this TV show.
Something I like about many airplanes is that when they sit on the ground, their noses are pointing towards the sky, like they are yearning to take off right now, and get back to the glory of the "majestical roof fretted with golden fire".
Well, that's what I tried to capture. A cloud would have been handy in the upper left hand corner. Maybe a little golden fire.
(PS, is blogger being an asshole to anyone else? I couldn't get onto anyone's sites yesterday, my own included. I'm still having problems posting comments today)

Very cool shot, love the framing!
I've had problems with Blogger sites for very brief periods of time on Monday and Tuesday as well.
Simplicity & beauty at the same time...great shot Jug! You done GOOD! What camera do you use...and if I already asked, forgive me...back-to-school-overwhelmed-MOM-mush-brain I AM! SAM! LOL! ;-)
Phew .. I know nothing about aircraft but I like the colors combination here.
PS, yeah blogger sometimes is suck! I had to make a new blog, remember? :(
Blogger has been weird lately, yes.
Jim. How much of your life has been spent playing Risk? D&D? Not a war monger? Hmmm....?
OK, I know you're not. You're too Zen for that.
Cool, cool shot!
The colors are so pleasant to look at and the sky is unbelievably clear that I will save it for my collection if you don't mind =)
PS - since I upgraded my account few days ago to 'Blogger Beta' problems disappeared.
time to switch to wordpress, eh? anyway, love the shot!
Wonderful shot! Your photos are always are amazing! I don't think I have ever left a comment here, but today I just had to for this reason... I had a dream last night that included your "baby" photo...I was in this huge house and over the Fireplace there your photo hung like a portrait! haha it was strange to say the least..but most dreams are. :)
Micki... good, it wasn't just me then :)
Ame... thank you! I have a Digital Rebel, the older 6 MP one. Not the newest or best by any stretch, but it can get the job done!
Tanty... I was wondering why the new blog.. I guess my problems are tiny in comparison to having to do that!
Brain... yea, but in those games, only plastic pieces and made up people get killed. I haven't invaded many countries myself lately. Although I was thinking Luxembourg might be nice to dominate, I always wanted a Grand Duchy... :)
Jazzy... feel free to add to any collection!
santy... I have thought about it. Thanks!
Shelly... Thank you so much! Wow, I'm effecting peoples dreams now! I knew my profile picture was a little disturbing, but I didn't know it had that effect! Hopefully that wont chase you away!
Thanks for the nice comments everyone!
Hello,
Just a little note from a French women (who speaks a very bad English, sorry for that).
Wanted to say that I love your pictures and this one made me think of my last holidays in Normandy. I went to Omaha beach and to the Colleville sur Mer cemetery...seing all those white crosses I was pretty moved (9386 graves_ I must say I was moved to see all the 21 400 german graves in La Cambe as well)
War is not cool but I agree with you this plane looks cool :)
Mll... don't worry, your english appears to be better than mine!
Wow, thats a trip I would like to make some day.
Thank you very much for visiting and commenting!
